DPS is Proud to Serve Those Who Have Served
Ninety-five years have passed since the generally regarded end of “the war to end all wars,” and we celebrate veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. We’re proud that many former military personnel and veterans have found their place among our ranks, including Lain Hancock, our executive vice president of human resources.
“Working at DPS requires discipline, ingenuity and a take-action attitude,” says Lain. “These are qualities that are innate in those who have served, which is why we actively seek to hire veterans at our company.”
At DPS, we aim to help veterans, active military and their families through job placement, business and philanthropic efforts.
We send available job opportunities daily to veterans representatives at local workforce centers that work with veterans to apply for positions. Over the last few years, we’ve participated in military career fairs, including Hiring Our Heroes, and met with several other military organizations to inform them about our company, positions and hiring process. More than 6 percent of our new employees self identify as veterans.
For those in active service, DPS partners with the Overseas Corporation, a provider of go-to-market solutions for manufacturers doing business with the U.S. government, and the Defense Commissary Agency, an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense that operates more than 250 military commissaries worldwide, to make our brands readily available at multiple military locations.
Through our Let’s Play community partnership, DPS employees have helped build playgrounds for families on or near military bases. In 2011 we joined with Lincoln Military Housing in San Diego to build a playground at Camp Pendleton, a major West Coast base for the U.S. Marine Corps. Last year more than 500 volunteers, troops and DPS employees joined together to build a new playground for hundreds of children from military families stationed at Fort Lee in Virginia.
