Dr Pepper Snapple Group's Founding Flavors: Stewart's
Frank Stewart was looking for a way to supplement his income as a schoolteacher, so he decided to open up a root beer stand in 1924 to sell Stewart’s Root Beer in tall, frosty mugs. Patrons loved the creamy tasting root beer and Stewart’s side business turned out to be successful. For the subsequent 66 years, you could only enjoy Stewart’s Root Beer from a stand or, with the rise of the automobile, at drive-ins.
Finally, in 1990, fans could enjoy Stewart’s Root Beer from its now-iconic 12-oz. amber glass bottle. Since then, Stewart’s has continued to grow with new flavors like country orange ‘n cream, grape soda, cherries ‘n cream, cream soda and birch beer, helping the brand become a leader in flavor innovation for the super-premium, gourmet soda category.
Whichever flavor you prefer, pop open a bottle, enjoy the aroma and savor the sweet taste of a simpler time with Stewart’s.
