Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s Founding Flavors: Sunkist Soda Unveils a New Look
The history of Sunkist dates back to way before it was an orange soda when citrus growers in California and Arizona instituted the Sunkist trademark as a mark of freshness and premium flavor. In 1978, General Cinema Corporation, a large theater operator and soft-drink bottler, first licensed the use of the Sunkist trademark in a soft drink, releasing the product in test markets.
Sunkist® soda was so well received by consumers that it was launched nationally one year later. Soon, Sunkist became the best-selling orange soft drink and sales continued to climb – by 1981, Sunkist was one of the top 10 soft drinks, a first for any orange soda.
Today, Sunkist Orange Soda is the No. 1 orange-flavored carbonated soft drink in the U.S., and you can also find Sunkist in these other refreshing versions: Sunkist TEN™ Soda, Diet Orange, Grape, Strawberry, Cherry Limeade, Peach, Pineapple, Lemonade, Diet Lemonade and Fruit Punch.
And in true cinema flourish, Sunkist soda is unveiling a new look that is in-market now! Don’t worry, you’ll still enjoy the same great taste inside the new packaging, and you can still find Facebook credits to spend on your favorite games, apps and movies under specially marked 20-oz. bottles.
